60-Second Math Sprint

Solve as many mental arithmetic equations as possible before the 60-second timer hits zero.

Difficulty escalates across 4 tiers as you build streaks: single digits, double digits, mixed operations, and mental division/squares.

Scoring: +10 pts correct, -3 pts wrong. Streak bonus every 5 consecutive correct!

CHC Broad Ability: Quantitative Knowledge (Gq) & Processing Speed (Gs)

Mental Arithmetic: Numerical Fluency & Cognitive Speed

Speeded arithmetic tasks measure the rapid retrieval of mathematical knowledge and operational agility. Under strict time constraints, solving calculations requires suppressing arithmetic interference, managing intermediate carry values in short-term working memory, and executing rapid mental algorithms.

1. How to Play & Controls

You have 60 seconds to solve as many arithmetic equations as possible. Type your answers using the numeric keys [0-9] and press [Enter], or tap the on-screen keypad.

2. Scoring & Dynamic Difficulty

Problems scale dynamically from single-digit addition to multi-step multiplication and division. Consecutive correct answers build a multiplier streak that multiplies your points per problem.

3. Cognitive Foundations

Mental math fluency heavily reflects the efficiency of the intraparietal sulcus and left angular gyrus for automated numerical facts, liberating general cognitive bandwidth for complex problem-solving.

Important Psychometric Note: Speed Math Sprint evaluates operational retrieval and arithmetic speed under practice effects. It does not measure generalized abstract intelligence (g) or substitute for a standardized psychometric exam.
